Directorate of Agencies for School Health (DASH)

When children eat nutritious, well-balanced meals, they do better in just about everything they tackle. A wholesome breakfast sets up their bodies and their minds to get the most from a day of learning and play at school. There’s an agency in B.C. that connects many school-related groups (including community kitchens) to focus on helping youngsters and their families eat well. It’s known as DASH – the Directorate of Agencies for School Health. While its primary mission is to inspire school communities to adopt health-promoting approaches that promote lifelong learning, health and well-being, DASH is also involved in wider issues related to food and community.
