Here’s a recipe for success: Gather people who are enjoying the freedom that learning new cooking skills brings, introduce them to B.C. farmers who know how to grow great food, then put a few coupons into the customers’ pockets to help make buying that food that much easier. What could be tastier?
In a nutshell, that’s what the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Project does. Coupons are distributed through cooking and skill-building programs across B.C., and can be redeemed at local farmers’ markets. See a list of the partners & participants currently involved in this project. Or, you can search our database to find current participating cooking programs listed by regional location.
It would be tough to find a better place than a farmers’ market to spend your food dollars (or coupons). Any dish you cook will only be as good as the ingredients that go into it – put quality in, and the results pay off on the table, every time. When you’re shopping for fresh vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, seafood and dairy products, nothing beats the fresh–from–the–fields (or sea) selection at B.C.’s farmers’ markets. And since the producers are right there at their stalls, you can get great cooking advice from the people who know the product best. Plus, the cooking programs that distribute the coupons also offer kitchen sessions that focus on how make the best of what you buy from your local producers.
