Interested in Starting a Cooking Fun for Families Program?
Cooking Fun for Families (CFFF) is adaptable in a wide variety of settings and can be set up in a number of different ways. The program is ideal for schools working on creating healthy eating environments. The program engages families in healthy eating strategies. Members of the CFFF Sustainability Coalition and The Directorate of Agencies for School Health (DASH BC) support a province-wide adoption of Cooking Fun for Families. The successes already experienced in the Vancouver schools running the program, are relevant and easy to adapt to many at risk communities addressing issues of food security and community building.
Partnerships are a key piece of programs funding. Current programs have been funded through grants and private donations in collaboration with schools, community centres, food banks, etc. At present, blanket funding is not available on a provincial level. Estimated annual funding required to set up a CFFF program in one school is $10,000 a year. The programs currently running benefit from a combination of municipal, provincial and private funding.
